World of Warcraft has recently introduced a Sha-touched tiger and a cloud serpent mount to the Cataclysm Classic Public Test Realm, sparking speculation that Mists of Pandaria may soon arrive on the retro servers. While Blizzard has yet to make any official announcements, these two new mounts seem perfectly suited for a potential Mists of Pandaria Classic expansion, indicating that an announcement might be imminent.
Currently, World of Warcraft Classic is advancing through the Cataclysm content, with the Rage of the Firelands patch set to launch on October 29. Following this, only one major patch, Hour of Twilight, is scheduled for January 2025. Fans remain uncertain about the future direction of the Classic progression realms after this final update.
However, recent developments suggest a possible next step for Classic. In a new build of the Cataclysm Classic PTR, the addition of the Sha-corrupted tiger and cloud serpent mounts could hint at the arrival of Mists of Pandaria Classic. World of Warcraft content creator MrGM even shared footage of these new mounts in action on Twitter.

These mounts would be ideal choices for the potential Mists of Pandaria Classic upgrade, should it be confirmed. Each Classic expansion has introduced unique and visually striking mounts in their optional bundles, so if these mounts feature in a hypothetical Mists of Pandaria Classic upgrade—similar to the Avatar of Flame and Runebound Firelord from Cataclysm Classic—there's a chance one or both could also be adapted for the modern version of WoW.
If World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic is indeed on the way, an announcement could be forthcoming. At Gamescom 2024, Blizzard confirmed that the first-ever Warcraft Direct would occur before the year ends, likely to celebrate the franchise's 30-year anniversary on November 15 and WoW’s 20th anniversary on November 23. This event could be an opportune moment for the reveal.
However, some fans question whether World of Warcraft Classic truly needs to explore Mists of Pandaria. Modern WoW recently wrapped up the Mists of Pandaria Remix event, raising the issue of whether Classic should revisit that content.
