Dying Light 2 has reintroduced its Tower Raid mode in the newly released 1.19 update, following its removal around the time of the previous update in August.
In June, Techland allowed players to experience a beta version of Tower Raid, inspired by the popular VNC Tower mission from the game. This mode transformed Dying Light 2 into a roguelike experience, rewarding players with loot for reaching the end of a dungeon, which in this case was a skyscraper. While many players enjoyed the fun and challenging nature of Tower Raid, it was ultimately taken down after the beta period. Now, Techland has brought it back through the latest patch.
The 1.19 update, released on October 30, introduces Tower Raid: Halloween Run, a festive version of the beloved mode centered around the Halloween celebration filled with costumes, treats, and scares. This iteration features a new final boss, three additional floor types, and a selection of Halloween-themed characters to choose from. Each character boasts a unique loadout, trait, and playstyle, making Dying Light 2 feel more like a modern class-based shooter rather than just a zombie survival game. For instance, the Scarecrow character has a larger health pool, while Van Aiden excels in ranged damage.

Alongside the return of Tower Raid, the 1.19 update addresses various bugs, enhances quality of life, and implements several tweaks. One fix targets the Dying Light 2 side quest, Diva, while another resolves an issue that caused the game to freeze when players opened the map during location transitions.
Tower Raid: Halloween Run will be available until November 20. Players who find themselves struggling in this mode can utilize two types of perks for buffs while dungeon crawling. Session Perks can be purchased using Halloween Candies, the special currency for the current event, while Character Perks can be obtained through Perk Points.
Additionally, Techland is developing Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone experience that originally began as DLC for Dying Light 2. This upcoming title will follow the story of protagonist Kyle Crane and is expected to provide players with at least 18 hours of new adventures. |
