Developer Mundfish has unveiled screenshots of the third DLC for Atomic Heart, their acclaimed post-apocalyptic FPS set in an alternate 1950s Soviet Union. The game follows Major Sergey “P-3” Nechayev, a World War II veteran with memory loss, who awakens in a dystopian world overtaken by murderous robots. Since its launch in February 2023, Atomic Heart has earned positive reviews and won awards for its impressive graphics, unique setting, and immersive gameplay.
Mundfish originally committed to three DLC expansions for Atomic Heart. The first, Annihilation Instinct, launched six months post-release and continued P-3’s story as he ventured into the Mendeleev Complex, introducing new enemies, weapons, and an ability to slow time. The second DLC, Trapped in Limbo, diverged from this formula, pulling P-3 into surreal landscapes within the mental realm of Limbo, where logic and physics are abandoned.

In September 2024, Mundfish teased the third DLC with a sneak peek on social media, hinting at a return to the Chelomey Complex—although in a more deteriorated state than players remember. The latest screenshots, shared on October 31, suggest that players may once again navigate rooms submerged in polymer and explore new subterranean areas. The teaser also revealed at least one new enemy type and promised additional locations beyond Chelomey for players to discover.
The timeline and details of this new chapter remain vague, leaving it uncertain if players will once again control Major P-3 or encounter his familiar “crispy critters.” However, given the Chelomey Complex’s apparent disrepair, the DLC likely picks up after the main game’s events. Fans eagerly await the opportunity to revisit Atomic Heart's twisted world and see what new challenges await. |
