Microsoft has reportedly established a committee to oversee key aspects of the Call of Duty franchise, signaling a shift in how the series’ features and innovations are decided. According to a trusted leaker, this new committee will hold significant influence over the franchise’s direction, reducing the autonomy of developers like Treyarch Studios, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games, who traditionally rotate development responsibilities for the series.
Over its 20-plus years, Call of Duty has evolved significantly, introducing features like jetpacks, energy weapons, and the widely popular Warzone Battle Royale mode. The franchise’s latest innovation came with Black Ops 6 and its Omnidirectional movement system, which lets players sprint, dive, and go prone in any direction.
